We would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has been a part of this race over the years. From the athletes to the volunteers, to the sponsors and of course all our friends and family members who were there to cheer us, in whatever capacity we support the race.
Since its inception, Ultra Trail Stokely Creek set out with the intent to shine a spotlight on the Algoma region and show the trail running world that our backyard is an absolute monster and worthy of our distinguished UTMB designations. We have no doubt succeeded in this mission.
From your first steps up Homerun Hill (hating life) to the wild and untamed double track of Lapointe Lake trail. The seemingly never ending swamp of sadness to visit the Velo crew at Norm’s Cabin, the breathtaking views at the secret (not so secret) beach funneling you to the always challenging tekkie single track on Robertson Cliffs, eventually coming upon your final horrific ascent to King Mountain, it’s tough to imagine anyone passing a judgement on this race anything other than “beastly”. We hang our collective hats on this sentiment and are very proud of it.
It has been a wild ride folks. We could not have taken this trip without all of you making it so special. The stories, the pain, the tears, and our epic celebrations at the finish line will certainly be missed the most. All of us will continue revel in your mind-blowing accomplishments as father time marches on. This thing was a Monster and you are all heroes in our book. Unfortunately for us, the time has come to close the UTSC chapter of trail running in Algoma.
The run scene here has never been stronger and we look forward to supporting all the fantastic events upcoming in 2023 and beyond….
The website, Instagram and Facebook accounts will all remain active for the year if you feel like taking a trip down memory lane. New #yearthree pictures are uptoday as well from the legend @dangrisdalephotography !
We hope you remember your time with us fondly, no matter how much you hated us on race day LOL
Stay tuned @bearinmindrunning will be out of hibernation soon with some springtime event news forthcoming.
Looking forward to seeing you again.
All the best in 2023 and beyond,
Nick
